Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I really need the help of somebody who is experienced with the 3.4 996 engine. I purchased this car about a week ago, it has a very loud intermittent tap, unlikely it's the IMS as it's been upgraded to the LM bearing. one minute it'll start and purr like a kitten the next minute it'll sound like the engine is full of rocks. No loss of power, drivability issues, smoke, check engine light, oil consumption just the noise . Also the sound of the noise increases with arise an RPM . These videos were taken five minutes apart?!? https://youtu.be/T9D_GE0eR-k https://youtu.be/ofqqYNlsE2U

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I ran it again with the front belt off... https://youtu.be/UqTdXzIw6O8 The noise seems to be originating from the oil scavenge pump on the passenger side

POST 3Original post

The pump has probably ingested some debris. Not uncommon.
