Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've read multiple threads that go in multiple directions for various issues and it's overwhelming. My car is an '03 C4S with Bose. I'm hoping for some simple answers to by issues below: 1. No sound. I've tried the Volume reset to CAN and AMP and back to CAN and no dice. I'm not using the fiber optic loop wire as I didn't think it was needed in an '03 and newer 996. 2. Unit doesn't turn on or off with the key. Bizarre issue and we can't figure out. Can only be turned on or off manually. 3. No night illumination of buttons. Oddly the buttons for PSM, rear window defogger etc also are now dark when headlights on. Main gauges are lit as normal. We checked and rechecked and can't figure it out. Obviously I'm missing something or we screwed something up. Also the control unit that is placed on the metal tray only has the one cable coming out and into the back of the unit. There's another female connector with nothing plugged into it. Maybe something needs to go there? Thanks in advance.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Figured it out. Stock fiber cable needed to go into the back of the control box. The other issues seemed to fix themselves. Thanks for everyone's help.
