Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Considering a 2006 Cayman S with 55k miles on it. Seller sent me these photos from when they had the boroscope done.

POST 2Original post

Hard to say - most of them look pretty consistent with each other, which is not what you usually see with typical borescoring. I wish they would have provided the raw images instead of a picture of the screen like this. The last cylinder looks weird due to the discoloration - was this because it was taken at a different location on the cylinder, or something else? Do they have an explanation for that?

POST 3Original post

I think the last cylinder had some oil in it - possibly it had been sitting for a while and the oil crept past the rings (that happens in horizontally opposed engines.. some BMW motorcycle were imfamous for it..) Overall - I don't see anything of concern, but of course, the real proof is looking at the bottom of each bore from the sump... they start to score first at the bottom.
