I found this little black piece of plastic (~2x3x1") loose in the Nav-DVD/CD changer compartment under the boot. Not sure what it is or where it goes. I assume it has some importance, since there is very little unnecessary stuff on the CS. Thanks for any help. - Rob

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think that it is a receptacle for screws which hold trim in place. The cluster of 7 holes will sit behind a trim piece. The trim piece will have a single hole, and you put a screw through into whichever of the 7 holes lines up. The press-in spring post will go into a hole somewhere in the trunk, lining up the screw receptacle array. I suggest you look at all trim holes, and find which one has nothing to screw into behind it - thats where this piece goes...
Following the cue from facelvega, I found a screw (see attachment) that is not attached to anything. Assuming this part was attached to this screw, it is unclear how the part is situated and what the clip might be inserted into. There is a tube that runs nearby and the part may be used to secure it? Can someone reach/look into their CD/Nav compartment and let me know if this part is indeed attached to that screw and how it is oriented? Many thanks!
The secret is now out. That little piece actually attaches to the intake plenum and adds 50 more horse power to the S/non-S. Porsche was going to surprise us with it in 2009. Much cheaper than having to re-tool everything every 5 years to keep up with the competition.
I knew it! Thought my acceleration was a bit weak lately. My fear was that it was a keystone-type connector that once removed, the entire car falls to pieces.
I looked it up, using the part number showing in the photo. That is a support for the front trunk plastic trim panel (aka "lining") that covers the Nav DVD unit and CD changer (the panel into which the top and front access doors/panels mount). You might want to go back to the dealer and have it reinstalled.
Thanks, I found the same reference after a Google search of the p/n and it was a bit vague and the exploded view diagram was not sufficiently detailed. The car goes to the dealer on Thursday for other work- I'll let them figure it out. :thanks:
