On my recently aquired 2004 996 C4S, when I topped up with oil (not much oil, I don't have an RMS problem, yet , I hope! ) I noticed that there was some oil 'foaming' (creamy, brown sludge) inside the oil filler tube and on the inside of the oil filler cap. Can anyone tell me if this is normal, to have some foaming? I had always thought that it was a bad sign and could be a sign of problems with the head gasket

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
