Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Chaps, Has anyone bought any rear light savers from any stockist in the UK? I can only find them on Pelican Parts? Mylower mounting point has gone and these look like a great cost effective fix. http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/accessories/996-Tail-Light-Saver.htm Cheers Matt

POST 2Original post

I couldn't find them in the UK either. Ordered some from eBay. Made the guy an offer which he accepted. Not too happy with the quality/finish tbh. Think I'll need to paint them before they go on my car. I've been trying to post a pic but photobucket is not responding right now.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Pickse, The only other option is to buy a decent second hand set or £800 for a new pair! Is it just the qualty of finish in the plastic or the actual fit that isn't great? Cheers Matt

POST 4Original post

The fit is ok, well it would be if the holes were large enough for the stepped washer to fit into. As they are the screws will not reach. But the finish is a bit rough. They look to have an almost brushed finish but with several imperfections. [/img] edit. correct typo

POST 5Original post

I bought some direct. Unfortunately the people that voted for brexit (not me I might add) means that the dollar is a measly 1.2 to 1 so cost around 55 quid (70 USD). The finish looks OK on mine but I've not had chance to fit them.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thx Chaps. I think I'll go for a pair. Cheers Matt

POST 7Original post

Old thread resurrection. Has anyone tries the new Light Saver II's? Now in thinner metal with better finish. Thinking I may need a pair as the bottom hole on my N/S light cracked off when they were doing the AOS. a couple of monhs ago, only noticed it whilst doing the water pump.

POST 8Original post

Yes, I had to buy them . Not cheap , but cheaper than a light ! I think finish is ok . Didn't feel inclined to rub down / paint. Two things I noticed. My light still moves a few mm, not like it could fall out... but these don't 'clamp" light in . Secondly , if you look directly into the panel gap between light and boot lid ... you can see the black bracket . I'd still buy them , as dont think there is another option... unless some clever person can 3D print new brackets for lights

POST 9Original post

Thanks for the reply. 3D printing something, you could be onto something there.

POST 10Original post

I purchased directly from I think Cliff Hightower.. perfect fit no issues

POST 11Original post

Has anyone ever suffered a light 'life' by not having these. Just seem like a gimmick to me.

POST 15Original post

Mine are like new and I presume 21 years old.
