Happy holidays every one. Here is my question. Can a Porsche dealer program a used key remote from a wrecked vehicle to my 997 or do I have to purchase a new remote.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

In order to program the car to accept the new key, you need the factory code tag that came with the key. Without that data, it is literally impossible.
Yes I know of that tag that comes with the new FOB. I thought a Porsche dealer could just get the IPAS code info and program any remote but now that I think about it, I think your right. Looks like I have to purchase a new one. I am very bad with holding on to keys and I am only asking for trouble with just one set. lol
I know I'm right, this comes up all the time, there is no way to extract the codes from a given fob, you must have the tag. No tag, no programing the car...
