Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Try try as i may, there is absolutely 0 information on the internets regarding the in house V8 that Ruf created a few years back. Just press releases and articles that just coped the press releases. I do have an old magazine (possibly Excellence) that went to greater detail on the origin of this motor and it sounding promising. With how close Ruf and Porsche are, my guess is that costs were just out of control or Porsche decided to go down the turbo route and caught Ruf off guard from an ease of making power perspective. Anyone on this board have any info?

POST 2Original post

Here's a blog post about the V8 for those who aren't familiar. https://rufautomobiles.com/ruf-v8/ I believe the V8 is on the backburner, it's not completely gone. I saw both the 997 and 991 prototypes when I was in Pfaffenhausen in Feb. The motor wasn't in the car. I believe the costs came may have been a factor. But it may come back around again one day. You never know what RUF has up it's sleeve. Remember, the goal for this engine was eventual twin-turbocharging for a CTR3 variant.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you for the info. I seem to remember the author saying the motor had the potential for twin turbocharging and either the ctr3 or another model was the target. They did say the sound was something that needed improvement as well. The story behind why a V8, how it was delevoped and it's current state would make a fascinating read.
