Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

https://www.rennline.com/996-carbon-fiber-ducktail-spoiler-sku-e359/ Anyone have one of these? I like the look in the pictures on the website, but I"m curious to know what it looks like with the spoiler activated. I've searched and can't find a picture for the life of me. Also, does it attach to the deck lid or the spoiler portion? If it's to the deck lid, that would be my preference, I'm worried that it would act as a sail and look goofy when the spoiler activates at highway speeds. Any pictures with the spoiler up or I put on where it attaches would be appreciated.

I have similar version from Better Bodies and it goes on the part of the lid that raises. Doesn't look goofy and I don't notice any issues at high speeds (I tested mine at over 125 mph so far ). I love the taco designs and some others but I just wanted something subtle and this does the trick for me. I'm not at home this week so I can't shoot a pic for ya, sorry.

Thanks, that's most of what I wanted to know. I'm not in any rush and would appreciate a picture of it in the up position whenever you have the time.

Isn't the better bodies one much bigger than the Renline? I've also been considering both and probably going to go with the renline to avoid having to get the better bodies one painted and properly prepped for good fitment.

I just picked up an extra seal grey engine lid cover on ebay for $99. Plenty of them available in lots of colors. I will also pick up one of Rennlines carbon fiber ducktails to see how it looks. If it looks good, i will see if i can drill a couple of holes in the lid and find a way to more firmly attache the Rennline ducktail for high speeds. May or may not be doable. If not, I will probably return the part to rennline. Still wrestling with whether the insertable ducktail is strong enough to handle high speeds versus just getting the entire ducktail engine cover for a full ducktail look. Who knows, i may end up with three looks, oem lid, oem lid with rennline carbon ducktail, and a Getty Carbon ducktail painted seal grey. Gives a few relatively low cost choices. All good problems to have.

Hah! Just waiting on a Rennline sale. Hope it comes soon.

POST 8Original post

Cant imagine its that much different than the DNS. My buddy has one and tracks his car several times a year. As most know, I prefer the whole ducktail.

Yeah, the whole ducktail does look better than the one inserted into the lid. Just a smoother look. But quite frankly, they both look good.

POST 10Original post

I really like the Rennline carbon ducktail because it retains the active spoiler function on the car. This function is one of my favorite things about the 996.

POST 11Original post

For sure. What makes the Rennline Carbon piece so attractive is that you don't have to paint anything, nor have to worry about disabling anything. That is utopia. I do wish there were more pictures of it on various colored cars.

Luckily for you, grey goes well with everyyything.
