Has anyone any knowledge/ experience of a retrofit for the remote boot release for an early 996? Having recently moved back to a 1998 996 after a 997s, this is one feature I REALLY miss. Jon

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know how you must feel, as I have gone from the C2 with the mechanical release to the TT with remote, and find it incredibly useful. The lock and actuator wouldn't be a huge problem or expense (about £120) but to integrate it to the car you would be looking at a new alarm control unit, remote keys, switch panel (which would need the engine compartment to be done also) and wiring up. I suppose you could rig up a separate aftermarket remote, but it might be tricky to make the lock unit work with both cable and electric actuator.
mmm.... sounds like I'll have to live with it as it is. Not a great inconvenience in the grand scheme of things, I suppose. Or I could pray for just one investment to come good, and pick up one of those ridiculously cheap later model cars out there.... but then I'd miss the basic honesty of this car.... Or.. or..
