Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Autoweek Readers responded to the BMW Z4 Coupe Fast Poll with these comments in the October 31. 2005 issue. 'I like the Z4 Coupe a whole lot, but BMW doesn't do sports cars as well as Porsche. I've driven many examples of both brands. but sorry, BMW. I'll take a Cayman S.' Jonathon Franks, Crystal Lake, Ill. 'BMW sinks lower with each new design. The Z4 Coupe upholds the new tradition by being Munich's ugliest offering to date. To suggest this bulbous mass of folds, creases and lumpy curves can compare with the svelte lines of Porsche's Cayman is laughable.' Ed Well, Brentwood, Tenn. 'I'm sure the Z4 Coupe is an impressive, well-engineered sports car, but it misses the mark on styling. It appears BMW referenced the early Datsun Z cars, but muddled it all up by blending in a Remington electronic shaver.' Erik Gifford Clifton Springs, N.Y. POST 2Original post

There is a 3/4 rear view of the Z4 Coupe in the November 2005 Road & Track (page 23) where the car is just plain ugly. I thought the pics from the Frankfurt show were alright until I saw that pic in R&T... ewwww...

POST 3Original post

I was at the launch of the concept car in Frankfurt and it looks much better in the flesh. I like it, although the looks of the Z4 have always been loved or hated with little in between. Personally I think the new Z4M announced this week will be one hell of a car and steals all the limelight from their coupe. However even the Z4M doesnt have the romantic attraction of a Porsche and will probably not handle as well either.

POST 4Original post

IMO, the only really good-looking car that BMW makes is the 645. The Z4 Coupe sets new standards in the Ugly category.
