Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

'99 cab. So last summer my driver's window stopped dropping the 1/2" when opening. Nuisance, it's a small part, I'll get around to it, and in the meantime I just make a point to push it down before closing the door so it doesn't catch on the convertible top. Yesterday while rolling it up I didn't like the sound of it. Subtle, but something didn't sound normal. Like a leave was caught in there. But it still went up normally. I manually push it down just slightly as normal before shutting the door, and as soon as the door shuts, the window drops a full third of the way down. So this time I put it up, and shut gently without the pre-push. Drops a third of the way. After a few tries I finally had to go around to the passenger side to roll the window up while the driver's door was closed. Anyone ever experience this? Anyone know of any videos related to repairing this?

It's a failed window regulator. It's a well known problem that these fail over time.
