Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking at a 2000 cabriolet. 143,000km, no service records. The car has been hit in the front right corner, it shows on the carfax/carproof. I can still see the front fender liner is not perfect. The inner wings looks good and straight. All the hood/doors/deck lid close well and have good gaps. Born in Hawaii, been in Vancouver, Canada since 2005. 3 owner car. Runs very well, drives nicely. Interior a little 'worn'. Thoughts? What would be a fair price?

Best advice I can give you is to get a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) done by a qualified P car shop. That way you know what issues it may have and what items have been recently replaced. You can use this site to help you find one near you Independent Porsche Repair . Looks to be pretty clean. Just needs a good headlight restoration. (kit HERE if needed). It also seems to be a very well traveled 996. I'd also recommend checking your local "for sale" boards (like craigs list, cars.com, auto trader, truecar.com etc) in your area to see what these are going for with mileage and the condition close to this one. This should give you a good idea on what a fair price would be for your region. Good luck with the purchase.

I think that's too high. With no records assume original ims. Factor clutch as well. Add in damage discount plus mileage on the least desirable 996... the 3.4. These cars are selling for under $15k. 3-4 k for clutch and ims. I think $12k is more like it but maybe west coast prices are different.

Based on what I paid for my '03 C2 Cab last year with 74,000 kms and a minor front right corner impact (very well repaired with factory parts), new IMS, RMS, clutch and tires (do take into consideration tire wear as they are not cheap), I'd guess somewhere in the $17-18K And range maybe?
