Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

On a Boxster - not seen this type before and there doesn't look to be enough room to get the thickness of a socket round it anyway, at least the one on the right. They are approx 13mm. Can't be that unusual but I'm stuck trying to find out.

POST 3Original post

Airbag ? Possibly Porsche Factory Tool 9259 Special saw tooth socket ?

Gary C said: Airbag ? Possibly Porsche Factory Tool 9259 Special saw tooth socket ? ECU/DME mate. Fixed to the rear bulkhead. Unless I'm missing something, there no way to get it out without dealing with these nuts as it's held in a carrier fixed to the bodywork. Seems bloody stupid to me but as I said, maybe I'm missing something.

POST 5Original post

Maybe one of those universal sockets with the spring mounted pins ?

Seems bloody stupid to me but as I said, maybe I'm missing something. They're security nuts as one third of the immobiliser system is in the ECU. The good news is they're never torqued up beyond a few NM and a decent pair of mole grips will make short work of them, once you have a turn into them they spin off by hand easily.
