Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Does anyone know why most 996 Turbos Rattle ? My car sounds like chain rattle ? I believe most of them make a noise but what's the limit before you should investigate?

POST 2Original post

Yes they do. If you aren't sure take it to a well respected specialist. MC

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks MC I took the car to TWG Motorsport in Peterborough and they reassured me the noise is normal, very helpful guys. I was also informed the noise is the intermediate shaft and apparently the bearings are not the same as non turbo engines therefore they last the life of the engine. Phew!
