Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I recently purchased a 1999 - 966 Carrera and the vehicle came with only one key. The key never would unlock the doors remotely but it worked fine for unlocking manually and turning on the ignition and driving the car. Yesterday, I pulled into my garage and turned the car off. This morning I went to drive it and all the dash lights come on but the car won't turn over. I checked the battery in the car and the key FOB and both are correct voltage. I noticed that the red light in the key FOB is blinking rapidly when the button is depressed. Can anyone offer any thoughts as to what might be causing the car not to turn over? Thanks for any input. Mark

Bad clutch switch, bad cell in the battery. What is the voltage when you turn the key to start? Does it try to crank at all? If the car and key fob have lost contact the fob can blink all day and nothing will happen.
