I was thinking about this today on a drive down to Caffeine and The Machine (The Bowl) about the song I played when I picked up my Porsche. It was “Running to you” by Chike and Simi. It is a banal point but I cannot be the only one who thinks about what song they want to play when they pick up their new car. Edited by FrancisA on Saturday 20th July 23:16

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If I bought a Porsche I would play Silver Machine
Any car: Grey Cortina by Tom Robinson
I just listened to the engine.
It was far too heavy for me to pick up. But when I collected it I didn't play any song because all the music I needed was coming out of the air intakes and exhaust.
Madness - Driving in my car
I listened to the engine for a few days.
When I collected mine, I was somewhat nervous and spent the 50 mile trip fighting the appalling (lack of) GEO and stupidly heavy wheels, and all I could hear was my heartbeat alternated with the voice in my head saying 'you idiot, this car is awful'. Nowadays, I alternate between just two songs. Where's your head at. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rAOyh7YmEc Where is my mind? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_aBmrYChfQ (one of the best songs ever, by the way. You kids don't know nuffink.) I think it's a 993er thing.
Like others have already said, the engine sound.

None, very poor sound system I thought. Years ago now. I think it was a 2008 or 10 Carrera S.
Orangecurry said: Is levity only allowed if it meets your approval? Yes. If that's a problem, you can always hit the report tab But clearly the answer to your question is no, because we've all had to tolerate your own, unique brand of "levity" on here, for at least the last decade ...
Here is the video to Running to you - yes it is Afrobeats to the core! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DpejbEJ5Gs

I listened to the engine for a while, but it was a six hour drive so i eventually put on a playlist that started with happy motherf ker by brothers in law. Glad it didn't result in a custodial. Edited by OldGermanHeaps on Thursday 25th July 21:42
I was listening to the car as it was my first Porsche, it made noises completely different to any of my pervious cars, home was 130 miles away I listened to a symphony of pure mechanical music.

Were your pervious cars open topped? I remember hearing my first 911 and thinking I'll have one of them someday. Then I heard an SL63 AMG and it blew my socks off.
I am the 11th owner of my 911 and it was nearly 20 years old so I kept the music off, windows open and listened very, very carefully for any rattles, groans and grumbles.
Millionaire - Dr Hook I hasten to add I'm not though unfortunately
911 by Rick Ross.
"2 minutes to midnight" - Iron Maiden
Since I was swapping a 6.2 litre V8 for the flat 6, the engine has always been at the heart of my soundtrack. But in the spirit of this thread, some AC/DC played loud will do for a start
