Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm in ther process of fitting a Ruf Bilstien set up, ie thinking about it, havn't actually done anything yet. I have a set of HRE540R rims from the US that are a work of art but perhaps a little too "loud" for this part of the world. The pic is reduced in size to upload but in the flesh there is a real quality to the finish that you can't really see here. I can get the centres either powder coated, or the ali "brushed" or diamond cut which would tone them down a bit & make them look a little more "race" stylee, or, just leave them as is. It's a shame to change the finish as a hand polish of the ali is an expensive & time consuming job but they are definately a bit bling. anyone know what tyre sizes to go for with a 19" rim on a 996? I'm guessing 305/25 rear 235/35 front ??

POST 2Original post

What sizes did you go for? 8 & 11J? I'd stick with 235/295, at least you'll still get N-rated rubber and you're not upsetting the front/rear grip considerably. The 235 might even reduce the understeer trait!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

stock TT width, so 8 & 11. don't want to mess with the overall diameter too much. 295/30 on a 19 +'s the overall diameter by quite a bit, ie 25mm. 305/25 is o/d of 629mm and 315/25 is 640mm, so +/- approx 5mm from the original of 634mm, I think I'm calculating that right?........

POST 4Original post

I understand your thinking on the rolling radius/diameter - does limit your tyre choices, what options have you found available out there? Can you get 225/35/19 & 295/25/19s as those are within 0.6mph? I think 315 might be verging on the too wide for the rears, GT2s have 12J to fit a 315.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Havn't really started looking yet, would prefer an N rated tyre but seems a little pointless as I'm outside what Porsche would consider normal anyway. I need to research a little, what's on a 997 turbo?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

just looking at overall diameter first, rears std 295/30 x 19 = 634.2mm o/d upg 305/30 x 19 = 665.6mm +5% upg 315/25 x 19 = 629.97 -.06% upg 305/25 x 19 = 635.1 + 0.002% so the 305/25 is the best bet for o/d but will it sit ok on an 11" rim?

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yep, and you have it......
