I'm looking for some guidance or clarification. My 2001 911 C2 6 speed driver side rear axel popped out of place by a couple of inches a while back. I think i did it jacking it up excessively from the opposite side before getting jack stands under it. I noticed it because i was leaking gear oil when parked in the garage. Car doesnt leak anything, so i noticed it. I went to the mechanic to fill up the gear oil and he was able to "pop" or push the axel back in place. However, it still comes out a little bit every once in a while, and leaks a little oil but also settles back and stops. I started asking about the fix and i had another mechanic tell me there's a clip inside the axel housing that should hold it in place. Is that the fix? How difficult is it go remove the old clip and insert a new one? Thanks in advance,

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
