Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Im out of options. I cannot bring myself to buy this tool for $900. Baum cam timing tool for m96 5 chain. Does anyone have one they can rent me? At this point the $80 Chinese tool got me close. But I dont trust it seeing the top part was shooting at an angle and not perfectly straight which would obviously make it appear off. Yes the cam covers are on which I think is pushing this tool cockeyed. But I think you should be able to do this with them on with a quality tool. Might even be preferred? can anyone help a brother out? im on SoCal if that matters.

Have you verified that the engine is in the correct position for the bank you are doing? You have to rotate it 360 degrees when doing the second side after the first side. The manual shows you how the cam windows should look for each bank. I just finished timing a motor with the same tool, worked great. You have to properly install it in steps and make sure it's lined up to get everything to sit flat.
