Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Left Bank bent all of the exhaust valves, broke the cam chain, and peeled the teeth off of the exhaust cam. Chains from Heads to IMS are still intact. (they don't move with the crank) Removed heads and IMS bearing retainer. Crank turns, back of IMS turns. So the crank to IMS chain is intact. Appears I-shaft is no longer connected to the crank drive sprocket? Is there a keyway, spot weld, shear pin, flat spot??? What connects the shaft to the drive sprocket?

Just press fit. I’ve seen them pulled and then pinned Mike

Man, what a disaster, I`m sorry for your loss. Interesting fail that I`ve not heard about before. I wonder what happened first: the camshaft seized and forced the sprocket to turn around the IMS, or, sprocket disengaged from IMS and caused the disaster in the head? How about the right bank? That should be a mess too if the cams don`t move with the crank. Any update on this?
