Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey I need the spare part number for my 996 targa - the roof isolation (picture) Can anybody help? I think it must be fixed ;-)

POST 2Original post

If you mean the parts i've arrowed in the image then thats not standard .. that's some foam backed tape someone has used to try and stop roof noises . I always remove stuff like that when cleaning these up as it can distort the front glass seal and cause water ingress . There should only be teflon tape on the roof frame at that point and that DOES stop noises .

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Thanks for the constructive response . What exactly is teflon tape? Can you post maybe a link Thommy

POST 4Original post

From your image then the teflon tape seems to be intact .. it's a very thin tape like sellotape with a smooth surface .. as roof noises are often rubber against a binding type surface then you get chirps and squeaks .. Arrowed in the image .. you can feel its very smooth unlike the metal under it . This tape stops those noises .. i couldn,t find what we use at work but the closest example i could find to show you is this .. https://www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/p/d/b40070573/?preselect=3293705653 I would need to check at work the exact make we use . For you i would say for now just clean that horrible foam tape off , give the surfaces a good clean and job done . water leaks .. noises and indeed a full rebuild are covered here .. I would take the time to find the noise post i did in this link as it will help . http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=116450
