Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Afternoon Was going through the service history and handbook wallet and found this sunglass case in the wallet which looks like it was maybe a "complimentary" set of sunglasses in a case. It doesnt look like a more modern "Porsche Design" glass case. The case is very flat so looks unused to me. Am I right? It would be nice to get a set of the glasses to make the car OEM I am also looking for a Porsche umbrella for the passenger side cill. Can you get both of these from Porsche? cheers Ray

POST 2Original post

Sunglasses were never an option on the 996. Case must have been left by a previous owner. The umbrella is available from your OPC and other parts retailers, though not cheap... https://porshop.co.uk/original-pors...11-944-928-996-997-991-boxster-cayman-rs.html

I guess they were a separate Porsche branded purchase - -long lost/broken. I will keep an eye on ebay! Umbrella at £70 is 3x what M&S do them for Ray

I now feel jealous my car doesn't have an official stereo face case

POST 8Original post

Your 2003 car has a CDR 32 with no face off Robert the glass's case was for CDR22/23 on 996 3.4 and pre 2003 Boxster where the face came off the stereo

Thanks Mark, I can sleep easy again! Ps... can you be my 'phone a friend' if I ever get on 'Who wants to be a millionaire?'

The umbrella isn't the one on the link but rather the new version, the one for the 996 is the one pictured which you can't buy new anymore with the leather case, it was sold when the 997 came out with a much more disappointing fabric sleeve. Unfortunately the umbrella's themselves are trash I've owned 3, one I bought, the other two came with my 911 and boxster and they all broke quickly with very occasional use as they are no stronger than £7 supermarket ones. What is worth having though is the leather pouch which looks smart in the car and you can fit any cheap umbrella in it.
