Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 2Original post

My first carrera was a 1985 that I bought when it was 1 year old. After I sold it I new I would get another someday. Now I have a 2006 Carerra S, and I love everything about it. I am just amazed how they have stayed faithful to the old design but improved everything exponentially. I think what hooked me was the sound of the flat six rumbling behind the seat. There is no other sound in the world like that.

Father's 73 T and 77 S got me started. Had to wait until the 997 until a) I could buy my own; and b) had enough nostalgia factor to remind me of the 73 and 77 911s. It's not really about the rear engine vs. mid-engine, but the legend the car represents. I'd still prefer something closer in size to the air cooled cars, but I do appreciate the modernity of the 997. I'll either keep this car for a while or move onto something else. So far nothing about the 991 beckons me.

1970 T, 1973 S, 1985 Carrera, 1993 RSA, 1994 3.6 turbo (2), 1995 993, 1996 993, 1999 996, 2002 996, 2009 Carrera S. All coupes. The ones I wish I still had: 73 S, 93 RSA and one of the 94 3.6 turbos.
