Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After just 2500 miles, my rear tyres are bare. Something seriously wrong here! A Center Gravity trip will be on the list soon. So, what next? Which tyre make do you all reckon is best? Some guidance please! Paul

POST 2Original post

Yes - you definitely need a geometry setup!! I thought that 6000 miles from the rears on my Turbo was bad. There's a list of approved tyres here ( http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=456104 ) but I think you will find that the grip ratings don't match personal experiences here. I've tried three and my assessment would be: Conti Sport Contact 2s - A good all-rounder for wear, grip, and reasonably priced. Pirelli P-Zero Rosso N4 - The grippiest I had, cheapest, wore well, but tramlined after a few thousand miles (worse than others). Michelin Pilot Sport N1s - The best overall, the most expensive, but no longer available - Now PS2 N3. I've heard that the P-Zero Assimetricos are noisy. Bridgestones seem to be quite well liked, but the worst grip rated by Porsche - go figure.

POST 3Original post

Hi Paul. I did manage to get hold of a pair of Michelin Pilot Sport N1 rears just a few week ago. I was over a bit of a barrel and had to go to OPC but I know that ATS can still get them. They will bring them from another branch if you need them to - FOC. I'm going to now need some N1's for the front soon so I hope I can get some! On a similar point, I had a bit of a bad experience with the OPC when it came to getting the four wheel geometry done (after they'd put the tyres on). They corrected the geometry after they'd done it wrong in the first place but the car just doesn't feel the same to me. Went for a blast yesterday and at one point I felt very 'remote' to the cars handling. A bit unnerving! With this in mind I've been thinking of going to Centre Gravity myself to see if all is well with the set up. Do you know how much they'd charge for just checking it? I just can't trust the OPC to get it right so I feel that I have to look elsewhere now - even if it does mean a 300 mile 'round trip! Give ATS a call! All the best!

Which should I go for? Pirelli PZero Rosso N4s or Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s ? Are the MPS's worth the extra £70?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Have sent Center Gravity an email and I am just waiting for them to get back to me. I first knew that something was wrong when the back end suddenly slipped right out around a roundabout. My son told me that it was the tyres - he said the last time he looked at them they were bare. I said it couldn't be as I've only driven it for about 2500 miles, but I was proved wrong as soon as I got back! The fronts still have plenty of tread left, the rears are gone though!
