I'm planning to "downgrade" my 2.7L 987.1 Cayman to 17 inch wheels, mainly for weight savings: some posts here estimate a total reduction of 17 lbs over the 18 inch Cayman S wheels. Should I be looking at anything apart from stock Cayman / Boxster wheels? The aftermarket selection seems slim in the 17 inch category. I was hoping to find something like the Oz Alleggerita HLTs.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I saved that much wheel weight by going from the stock 18” Porsche wheels to Titan 18” wheels with 1” greater width on both front and back. Apex wheels can provide the same weight savings. I assume you want the weight savings to improve handling and performance. While the weight savings will certainly improve performance, the additional sidewall rubber from moving to the 17” is likely to reduce some road feel and steering directness compared to 18”.
@PorscheGreg : Yes my other option was Apex or Oz lightweight 18" wheels, but then I discovered the 17" wheel world and wanted to experiment. The reviews I've read online are all glowing.
Make sure your brake calipers will fit inside a 17" wheel.
Ah good suggestion, I have the 2.7L but the brakes aren't stock so I should double-check. I know the stock brakes fit because the stock wheels were 17".
