Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This is my first Porsche, and my first purchase of a car for that matter; i was wondering what people's opinions were on buying vs. leasing the car. After reading the forum stating that only 10,000 caymans will be made, it seems like this would be the right car to buy. Any opinions?

POST 2Original post

I'm about 95% sure I will be buying mine. I have both bought and leased high end cars in the past depending on which was the better deal. I leased my wifes Audi 2 years ago due to the fact they were offering factory incentives, loyalty discounts (I traded in an Audi), and since the dealer had just opened they were really hustling for business.........in turn I got a really sweet lease deal. Porsche usually doesn't offer too many incentives such as the above.......true you might get a decent lease on a Cayenne or maybe a Boxster thats been on the lot a long time, but from what I have seen recently great lease deals from Porsche are not the norm. You can certainly do a third-party lease, and there are other options. I for one really think this car is a keeper and should hold its value quite well though.......good for buyingor leasing. Just examine everything and see what suits you better........there are good and bad points to each.

You might try www.leasecompare.com and see if they have one for the Cayman yet or not.

I will be buying my Cayman. I've had issues with leased vehicles in the past. Besides normally there is little difference between the cost of buy vs. lease with the vehicle I have purchased and leased. I guess it really depends on how long you plan to keep it and the amount of miles you will put on per year. Either way you will still have a Cayman.

POST 5Original post

The other consideration is of course the amount of the monthly payment. A lease payment is going to be considerably less unless you are putting a big down payment. Russ

I have always bought instead of leasing. When looking at how many miles (16-21k) per year, the lease was not a cost savings way for me to go. I also tend to keep the cars I buy for a number of years.
