Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a PCM 1 which i have taken out of a 996.2, on the side of the main PCM console there was a 4-digit code written on (which I assume is the correct code for it), the bit that is confusing me is whether there is a code for the separate Navi CD part?[/list] Does anyone know if the Navigation CD unit is coded? If so is it a separate code to the main unit Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Yes the navigation unit is coded. There should be a card with the owners manual wallet.

POST 3Original post

I think the only way to get it if you don't have it is to send the unit away. https://www.elektronikidee.com/inde...ew=article&id=114&catid=21&lang=en&Itemid=101 This is who I used to repair mine as it wasn't working at all. I had the code anyway but they provided it when they sent the unit back. While it's nice to have the original system all working, it is useless! I have the Nav discs but it is so agricultural compared to modern systems and phone apps that i don't use it. I bought the Bluetooth adapter from electronic idee above and it is great as I can play my Spotify through it and take calls via the car system. If i had the money, I'd go with the PCCM + as it keeps it original and I like the porsche system. I used it in a 991 I rented in Stuttgart and I thought it was really good. But radios and nav systems are always a very personal choice.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Okay thanks for that, I'll check in my wallet. Cheers

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I switched my PCM1 unit for an Apple CarPlay system, it is so much better. As you say I would have preferred the PCM plus but I just can't get comfortable with the price for us, it feels outrageous. I'm only thinking about the codes now as I have given the original to a friend of a friend and he is asking me about the codes, which is something I have never thought about. Thanks for all the help.

POST 6Original post

The only other way to possibly get the codes is via a Piwis and a check in the vehicle data section .. radio codes and nav codes used to be stored there .. Only the original codes though , if the unit has ever been replaced then it's unlikely the new code will have been entered there .

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I checked today and thankfully found the card in the manual booklet, so all resolved (simply) thankfully.
