Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am hoping someone can answer this question for me ... Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, Audi, Aston Martin and others all have or offer dual-mode exhaust systems. By dual-mode, I mean that the exhaust system is equipped with a butterfly type valve in the exhaust that provides two paths for the exhaust gases ... one through the silencer and one that bypasses (or partially bypasses) the silencer resulting in higher noise levels and lower back-pressure. Porsche has this system as well ... and I am familiar with the PSE option. I know that with the Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE), the key feature that the driver can press the PSE button to open and close the bypass valves. My question ... if the Porsche does not have the PSE option, do any Porsche's still have the dual-mode exhaust system ... that is, are they still equipped with the bypass valves ... the difference is that without the PSE option, you would not have a way to manually control the valve. The activation would be left up to the car's ECU. Thanks, Steve

As the dual mode/bypass valves you are referring to are only in the PSE exhaust system; no PSE, no bypass.
