Anyone have any experience w/ this mirror? Seems like a unique alternative to the built-in Passport SR options, and more cost efficient as well. I recall the Valentine's being superior years ago, but have no idea whether they're still competitive. Stealth Mirror

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

You still have to position in the main device in the windshield. I prefer the remote display on my steering column where I have it. If I wanted something to light up in the windshield, I'd just leave the V1 lit.
there was talk about this set up a few months ago. try the search. that hidden display is aroun 1200$ if i remember right (somewhere in ny)
i remmeber someone saying it over $1000 too... way too expensive...
Hi, I tried searching w/ Valentine, Passport, Radar, etc., but found only a dozen or so threads, nothing pertaining to this. I don't know if the Valentine stuff's still current, lazer shifting and such, and I do like the the SR series integrated look. However, I'm worried that my uncle might not hear the alert over the engine din, and thought the mirror might be a great solution. By hidden display, do you mean a hidden control panel ie the guts of the unit? Are there hidden sensors or whatever for the front an rear ala the SR? Any info'd be appreciated.
I've had it done along with a laser jammer install and my install shop hid the body. Looks great but killed my V1 sensitivity. The intsaller is going to try another body location so we'll see how it works and I'll report back.
That is common when you break the unit apart like this. Lots of bling, cool integration, but really not a great solution. And I might add that having the indicators in the mirror will almost guarantee you a ticket in the states that don't allow detectors. Any cop behind you who keys up his gun will see your mirror light up like a Christmas tree.
The mirror in your thumbnail is mine in my Boxster, I made it and have made a few for other P-Cars. I have my V1 mounted on a fabricated bracket between the seats so it has good front and rear visibility, I don't have to have ugly rubber suckers on the windshield and it's a little stealthier too. Chris.
No need for "ugly rubber suckers". The V1 sunvisor clip can be bent to clip onto the headliner and is quite unobtrusive. Marty
Yes, but keep in mind that if you block the front or back the accuracy of the arrows goes out the window. And, in the USA, if you modify any of these devices you automatically violate the FCC license under which the product is made, which is why some shops are cautious about doing this.
There have been a number of discussions on disassembling the V1, many involving Mike himself. As I understand it not only does this break any warranty and FCC regulations but if you were to move or extend any of the components it affects the communication and the sensitivity of the components. I haven't even opened mine up, just don't want to go there. The remote display and remote audio units are a different story however, they can easily be opened up an altered in a number of interesting ways. I'm in the process of adding remote audio controls in a blank in the dash so I'll have convenient control of volume and mute.
