Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

anyone got suggestions for any 'must have' 996 books?

POST 2Original post

The only 996 book you will ever need is: Porsche 996 The Essential Companion which has 656 pages. Ian.

POST 3Original post

Knowing the square root of diddley squat and wanting to buy my first, I too bought :- Porsche 996: Supreme Porsche (Essential Companion Series) (Paperback) by Jurgen Barth (Foreword), Adrian Streather (Author) It is excellent :thumb:

POST 4Original post

I have a few including: Porsche 996 The Essential Companion by Adrian Streather Porsche 911 Story by Paul Frere The first book is excellent but includes too many (I think over 90%) black & white photos. Paul Frere (RIP) is a great read also and was updated with each new release of 911. His last one was out last year which covered the Gen 1 997. Both excellent books (reflected in their prices); try to avoid the dross out there of which there are plenty in number (good giveaway to such description are lots and lots of double page photo spreads and very little technical info, ie what I could probably manage!). ~ Maxie

The Vic Elford book is a great read, Porsche High Performance Driving Handbook It's a cross between fast road & track driving techniques, mostly track, and a bit of a biography with some great anecdotes and stories from Vic's era. He relates each technique "lesson" to a race or an incident.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
