Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

One of the Lotus guys whom runs a GT3 tells me that the 3.8 will not fit the Cayman..............Which i find hard to belive. Mike/Liverpool

POST 2Original post

Mike, With 145 posts here surely you must have read about the 1/2 dozen or more 3.8L conversions that have already taken place??? The GT3 guy is flat out wrong..

POST 3Original post

K He says that its not the 3.8, just the other engine bored out. I don't belive him simply because no way in hell Porsche would hand string themselves like that! Mike

POST 4Original post

I hear RUF are doing a supercharger to 420 bhp

POST 5Original post

Mike - I just read where Tec Art is using the 3.4 crankcase and putting on new cyliders and heads to make the motor into a 3.8, but other tuners are taking 3.8 and 3.8 X51 crate motors and putting them into the Cayman S , without any problems, and getting rid of the 3.4 motor that comes in the car. I believe 9ff is also modifying 3.8 motors into 4.0 liters and putting them into Cayman S cars, too. brad

POST 6Original post

Supposedly the Farnbacher Loles car is the true 3.8 X51 engine, RUF also provides a 997S 3.8 as well as the X51 for the Cayman. I believe some of the early 3.8's were modified 3.4's or 3.6's so he was right at one time.

POST 7Original post

does the 3.8motor go in the rear trunk or is it mid-engine like the cayman?
