Is it worth it? The dyno charts on evo's website only show it along with the ECU tune, and I just don't have $1095 for an ECU tune right now, so for those of you that have the intake but no ECU tune, what are your opinions on the upgrade? Thanks, Suneet

Suneet,
I have the EVO intake and desnork. I have carried out some non-scientific runs with my trusty stopwatch from the sport chrono package
I have the numbers written down somewhere at work. I can get them on monday. There was a difference in the higher rpm range once the car was at speed. I timed runs before and after from 50 to 90 in fourth and fifth. It was obviously not huge and could even be contributed to temp / humidity differences.
I also disconnected the battery after the install and drove fairly aggressively for 50 miles r so before I timed it again.
I plan to have the flash done at Suncoast in December.....perhaps we can get two for the price of one

If your broke buy a K&N for $50 or a BMC for $100 they all including EVO use K&N element material.

Suneet, I have the Evo w/ de-snork like crocrr. I haven't done any timing, but since I don't race, it's irrellevant to me. What I can tell you is the sound is amazing. Not loud so that you notice driving on the inside, but from the outside. There is a stretch or road that has a traffic light on a divided hwy near me. If I am first in the queue and can get out quick, the sound of the engine sucking air coming back from the concrete median barrier is AWESOME. It scared the Sh@# out of me the first time, I thought the car was about to explode. Now I love doing it. My buddy says it sounds like a jet fighter when I cruise by. So yes, I would recommend it. I'm all for additional HP, but I probably cant feel 10 HP or less so I would be more in favor of the INtake I can tangibly notice than the chip which is almost like vaporware to me.
Completely forgot about the sound!!! Fadiboy hit the nail on the head. I love flooring it in tunnels.
Y'all convinced me
that's probably gonna be my next mod. Thanks
suneet, not sure if you have this already but, if I was you I would just save a little longer and get the AWE Catback for $1700.
Amazing sound PLUS documented power gains. Something to think about anyways...
I was pleasantly surprised by Ken's resultsfrom Evo and GIAC alone though. Better than I expected for sure.
suneet,
Did you miss the posting about GIAC and EVO being on sale at Croctoberfest for those who attend? This would be an opportunity for you to get a discount, get it installed by pros, and meet fellow Cayman owners, I can't think of anything better than that...
K-man S, I would
LOVE
to be at croctoberfest; unfortunately school and the distance keep me from driving, im in FL. Silent Will, I also plan on getting a Catback, right now the AWE system is winning on sound; but the dyno results might be my final decision whether or not to shell out a little more for the Milltek catback. - Suneet
