Fellow members, I have a question, what is the purpose of the second set of catalytic converters? I'm talking about the ones inside the muffler... andI would appreciate if someone has a picture or drawing of the cayman/boxster muffler cutted in half horizontally. This is because I'm thinking what could happen If the muffler is cutted in half, then have the second set of catalytic converters removed (straight pipes fitted instead) and soldedback. I think it may sound very good, plus less back pressure. What do you think about it? Thanks in advance!

My German version croc only comes with one set of CATS. Only 2 sensors, one before and after. Not 4. So the US version has 4?? COCO
Cocodrilo,
I don't think the US version has 4 sensors, I think it only has the two front ones, and none on the mufflers. Can someone verify this for me?
Alan
If you look at the Miltek install article you will see there are only two oxygen sensors. One before the catalytic in the headers and one after. Both sensors are in the header assembly. The Miltek exhaust eliminates the second catalytic.

awesome, now the hard part is to find a pic of this same exhaust but cutted in half to see how is distributed inside... is it just a straight pipe (running inside the muffler)? I'm wondering how can it be achieved...
Alan
the primary cats rob more power than the rears. They are closer to the exhaust valves and thus add more resistance to the flow than the same cat would farther away.
ECB,
my primary purpose is more sound than HP gain... I dont expect even .0001 HP gain from this, purely sound!
Thanks!
