guys, i have just installed the fabspeed catback in my CS.
i didnt know that the exhaust didnt comes with the tip and now i currently uses my stock tip and it looks ugly.
can you ppl help me out on what kind of tip should i use?
and the shop also told me that the sound wont be really obvious until the first 500 miles. is this true?
i also installed a black Techart GT wheels with H&R springs.
i will take a good picture by this weekend and hopefully i can post it this weekend.
The sound does not change with time. keh?
Where is Kenny? He has had a Fabspeed on the longest ,perhaps he can comment? He's also supposed to be working on an install article for here. Anyone seen Kenny? OMG they killed Kenny!!!
The last three aftermarket cat back systems I have bought definitely sounded better after as the broke in. From what I have been told there is an innerpacking material that breaks down as it heats up and with time muffles the sound less.
Mojo: how long did you take to break those exhaust in?
mine only feel louder and deeper in the cabin, but i'm not sure from the outside.
Not sure. Maybe 1k mi or so.
i'll be counting down then. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/naughty.gif
hopefully it will get become like the sound from the website.
-tokz- Don't hold your breath. As I've said time and time again, recordings on the internet are NOT going to be what you hear out of your own exhaust, you can't even compare recordings on the internet to each other because they were done with different tools. Some of the factors affecting what you hear over the internet are:
1) Microphone used to record (part of a camera? a separate mic?)
2) recording distance (1 inch, 1 foot, ?)
3) recording environment (windy, in a tunnel, etc.)
4) Media used to record to (digital? analog?)
5) Compression used to store the sound for the interent (WMV, MP3, bit rate?)
6) Your speakers (cheap, good? sub woofer or not?)
I'm sure there are other factors as well. the ONLY way to know what an exhaust truly sounds like is to go drive a car that has it installed and listen for yourself. I realize this might not be practical due to distance, etc. (although if you come to Croctoberfest you can hear some in person), but you should NEVER expect your car to sound just like what you hear on the web, in fact I can almost guarantee that it will never sound like what you hear on the web...
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this has been mentioned before...
yah, you're right, it's all about marketing.
anyway, thanks for bringing those points up.
i would love to go to croctober fest though, but it is too far for me.
hopefully something similar might happen in CA.

What made you go with Fabspeed in the end?
1st. i've heard it in my friend's 997 and it sound really beautiful.
2nd. i like the sound in their website so much. only to forget that's just marketing tools.
What are the published gains for the Fabspeed exhaust (no headers)?
regarding the gain,i'm not so sure, my decision was not purely based on the hp gains.
i think their website only shows with the headers installed, around 19hp?
they have advertisement banner in this website, so i guess you could click on that.
