Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I took delivery of a 2004 Cobalt Blue Carrera 4S yesterday from Porsche Centre Aberdeen. Good service and I got a fair price to change from my 2001 Carrera 4. Pics to follow. Some questions though: 1. There's no compressor with the spare wheel. I assume there should be. 2. The inside of the small storage area behind the handbrake's poorly finished - I'm sure my Carrera 4 had some sort of rubber mat inside to stop things rattling around. 3. The gearbox appears to be very different to my 2001 Carrera 4 - the gate between 3rd/4th & 5th/6th appears very narrow and there doesn't appear to be a strong spring back to the centre 3rd/4th plane. What's your experience? 4. Finally, should there be a separate manual for the PCM2 system? Thanks for your help, Mike

POST 2Original post

You have paid a premium for your car off the OPC (as I did, for piece of mind ) so if you have ANY hang ups just take it back 8) If there is anything missing from the car they will replace it FOC (or at least should do!). In my 6 months of ownership I have had various work carried out FOC at my local OPC so dont be afraid of asking them :food:

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sure Gil, but I'd be very grateful for your input on my specific questions. It'd be nice to know what I should have and what your experience with the car's been before I go back to the dealer. Thanks.

POST 4Original post

1. Yes there should be as the 4S has a skinny spare. 2. Yes there should be a textured rubber mat inside the compartment 3. Does the car have a short-shift fitted? This will result in reduced gate also if the short shift's bushes are too tight then the 'spring' action will be dampened. 4. I would imagine so. Get the OPC to sort these out!

POST 5Original post

Fit like Mike, I've the same model as yersell, there should be a compressor but ats probably something at gets overlooked pretty often as I had nae hose or plug to fit into the dash wi mine.... fat lot of good my compressor was :x There should be a rubber mat inside the storage compartment. As far as the gearbox go's.... I have a short shift so maybe ats a wee bit different but I have no trouble finding gears and the spring back to centre is strong.(48,000mls) In my opinion, Aberdeen Porsche Centre is no longer the garage they used to be. After Ian at the service dept left for Subaru it went down hill rapidly. Ive been in a few times with minor problems, had wrong diagnosis and spent hunners of pounds on crap I never needed. Watch them like a hawk, on the plus side ye were gie lucky to get a good price for yer last car so maybe they are getting better. The captain

Thanks, Damian - much appreciated.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Captain, Thanks for your input on the C4S - much appreciated. To be honest, my experience with Porsche Aberdeen has been very good in the years I've dealt with them. Much of it comes down to who you're dealing with or who's carrying out the work I guess. Thanks again.

POST 8Original post

Must be something to do with the Scot Dealers! My initial experience with OPC Glasgow when buying my car was great, but the minute I took delivery and they had my cash they were ABSOLUTELY AWFUL  Luckily I live 200 miles away so I never have to deal with them again uh: My local OPC (Chester) have had a lot of bad press but in my few dealings with them so far I think they are amazing, very helpful, professional and courteous

POST 9Original post

I felt the Aberdeen showroom staff were a bunch of snobs with over inflated ego's and probably over inflated salaries  Maist times I've popped in to look at a car I've been completely ignored, even if no one was in the showroom :frustrated: I hae te admit I dinna look like yer average Porsche owner. Am wee, fat, no very bonny and happiest wearing a bilersuit Afore I bocht me latest car I went in 5 times to look at an Arctic Silver C4S afore a salesman eventually opened it up fir us. I hud te fone the centre and speak te the manager afore I got some attention Time some o thum kent ye dinna need te work in an office or wear a sharp suit te hae a twa three pound in yer poakit :wack:

POST 10Original post

Yes DocCroc, +1 as per Damian's reply and for (4) there is a separate manual for PCM 2. If you don't have it, the OPC should give it free. ~ Maxie PS Look forward to the pics, a cobalt blue C4S is pretty unique I'm guessing.

POST 11Original post

I was originally after this colour, the best colour going for a car is cobalt and estoril (on an M3), but re sale got the best of me and I got black :worship:

Thanks for all the replies - I'll post pics as soon as I've got it all washed & waxed to my OCD standards! That's OCD, not OPC!
