Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

is there anyway to adjust the pedal positions in a facelift 996? can they be moved backwards at all?

POST 2Original post

No not really, not for the purpose you want. They are slightly moveable only so you can set the "correct" height....

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks Jeff- thought that might be the answer. i'm just over six feet and find them a little too close- how do properly tall people manage i wonder..!?

POST 4Original post

I'm over 6' too and found the Porsche interesting initially, but changing and getting used to a new driving position helped. So pull the seat back and if necessary pull the steering wheel towards you.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

cheers Damian... am sure it is just a question of getting used to it as you say... find my right knee gets quite twisted, but i've only had the thing two weeks so time at the wheel is the answer i guess!

POST 6Original post

Did you have a BMW 3-series for a few years by any chance?

POST 7Original post

'coz of the offset pedals in the BMW? I had a problem with the transition to a brake pedal that was actually in the middle, still feels like it too far over sometimes but i supppose that could be many miles driven in M3's

POST 10Original post

Ive also got the same problem. I find lowering the seat right down helpful, along with having the steering wheel right out, and the seat right back.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Damian- i DID have a Beemer- but it was a 6 [E24] not a 3... That was an auto- and my 996 is a Tip thinking about it i wonder i an LHD car would have the peddles in a 'better' position- it seems to me the problem is caused by the fact the peddles are offset because of the wheelarch- and on a left hooker i guess they can sit more in line with the right leg since the transmission tunnel doesnt intrude into the footwell..?

POST 12Original post

Just to add that i am feeling your pain, but being 6'7" i just get it although on long journey's i can start to being DVT set in! On a side note, i got given a Boxster as a courtesy car the other day and oh my god, how small are they??? I literally couldnt drive it with the roof up!
