Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have to plead ignorance and ask for help here. My current tyres are 265/40 R18 on the rear, but I'd like to change to 255/40 R18 to put winter tyres on (far more choice of tyre available). If I buy another set of 18in alloys for the rear with the 255 tyres on, what changes if any need to be made when swapping these in for the 265/40 R18s? They are a fractionally narrower width, so do I need spacers? Does this depend on the length of the wheel bolt used? Thanks in advance!

POST 2Original post

No you don't need spacers. I use 265/35/19 summer tyres and 255/40/18 winters without any issues.

POST 4Original post

No because the wheels are the same size. Its only the tyres that are fractionally smaller.
