Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I already adjusted the molding to get the outer edges to fit snug, but there is still a gap of about 1/4" between the windshield and the rubber seal/molding at the bottom of the windshield in the the middle for about 15 - 18 inches..

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Just had my windshield replaced by the same company that does for the Porsche dealer. Windshield looks fine and fits well, but the bottom edge on the outside, where the rubber strip of the cowl should touch it to prevent water getting into the battery compartment etc, has about an eighth of an inch gap along the length of the windshield except at the outside edges. It's an aftermarket windshield so may have a marginally different bow than OE Any ideas to fix? I thought about putting a thin strip of Neoprene under it.

POST 2Original post

Would be helpful if you could mention your model. In the 997.1 at least, the molding is held by three screws/nuts-a torx in the centre and a 10 mm plastic nut about 6" from each corner (under a flush plastic cover that slides off). There is some play for adjustment particularly by the nuts. loosen the nuts and screw and shove the molding towards the windshield and re-tighten. Are you happy with the rubber around the windshield? The aftermarket stuff is crap. The OE rubber is the only way to go. Hope this helps. Cheers, Johan

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, It's a 997.1 (Carrera S, 2007). I already adjusted the molding to get the outer edges to fit snug, but there is still a gap of about 1/4" between the windshield and the rubber seal/molding at the bottom of the windshield in the the middle for about 15 - 18 inches.. The installer told me that water does go under the rubber even if it fits snug, but the water is diverted and does not go into the battery box. This evening I will run some water on the windshield to see where it goes. I'll try some more adjustment as well. The rubber around the windshield is not as good as OE, but doesn't look bad.
