Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi! Bought a 911 c2 few months ago, car started weeping coolant, turned out the water pump housing cracked around one of the threaded holes for the engine carrier, has anyone had a similar issue, can this be welded in situ? does it have to be welded off the car, because of adjoining parts? Or do I have to buy new. Any help appreciated

POST 2Original post

They are not that expensive to buy new and there's still a chance it may fail if it is old?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not that expensive? They are over £1k

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is the water pump, I'm talking about the part the water pump bolts on to

POST 8Original post

That water pump housing is for a Mezger engine not the m96!? On the M96 the waterpump bolts to one of the block halves, the housing which has the carrier bolts passing through is actually the oil pump and has a coolant passage at the bottom, I think this is what you are talking about, this bolts to the other block half. Hopefully the damage is to the oil pump housing itself rather than the block. The water pumps for both engines are almost identical, the only difference being a different sized pulley( the turbo has a smaller pulley due to it's lower revs)
