Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just thought I'd put this on here as a kind of upgrade diary for my 996 and hopefully meet some more of you guys while I'm at it.
My Gen 2 996 C2 Manual Coupe has been asleep for a few years since I bought it. I picked it up it back in Jan 2017, 4 years ago now, with 137,000 miles on it. Had a few bits done at Revolution Porsche in Brighouse & Leeds to bring it up to scratch and then ran it all the way up to 150,000 in 9 months. Then I bought an i8 and stuck the car away.
Well, now the i8 is gone and I've booked the 996 back in with Revolution in March to get her back with a bang, freshen her up and add a bit of lightness. I'm not a spannerer myself, so this build will be done in big chunks as finances allow.
Here are some details of the spec, it's pretty interesting:

Here's the referb/upgrade plan, let's see how far I get:
Stage 1 March '21:
* RSS engine mounts
* H&R Lowering springs (my suspension is M030 and totally shot)
* 2 Control arms
* 4 x suspension arms
* 2 x Bump stops & top mounts
* Wheel spacers 7mm front 15mm rear
* 4 wheel alignment
* New enamel coloured wheel centres
* Samco induction hose & jubilee clip
* Replace air box rubbers
* Polybelt
* Replace engine seals
* L shaped under tray
* Calliper refurbishment
* Brake fluid change
* Steering rack pipes
* Exhaust silencer brackets
* Starter motor
* Major service
* MOT"¨
Stage 2:
* GT3 Dash centre console delete
* Momo Prototipo 6C carbon steering wheel
* Momo steering boss kit
* Momo black leather horn button
* OEM 996 rubber mats
* Remove CD Changer
* Remove broken PCM1 system
* Remove Bose speakers and amp
* Reroute climate controls to upper console
* Insert coin tray in dash
* Odyssey PC925 Extreme Racing Battery
* Rennline battery mount kit
* New Key"¨
Stage 3:
* Recaro pole position seats in real leather (none of that gaudy white logo on the headrest)
* Recaro steel seat mounts (I'd like the lightweight ones but they're silver and everything else in the interior is black)
* Recaro Adjustable seat runners
* Numeric shifter & cables
* Carbon centre console (transmission tunnel)
* Reroute and reinstall heated seat buttons to near ashtray (incase I want to reinstall the original seats in the future)"¨
Stage 4:
* KWV3 Coilovers
* 18" New Fuchs or BBS LM + Michelin Cup Sport 2"¨
Stage 5:
The car has just gone past 150,000 miles so at some point it will need a rebuild. I'm guessing at this point the car will have done 160,000 on the original engine so a Hartech rebuild is in order. While we're at it I was thinking of the following.
* Rebuild to 3.9L spec
* Top Gear full exhaust & X Pipe
I've got no fixed time scale for this so I'll just post when I have updates. I'm based up in Sheffield and I'd be good to get out in it over the summer after lockdown. If you guys know any good meets in that area, let me know.
interior as it is now. Lot's of original carbon. comfort memory seats need to go, they're about 50-70kg I hear. PCM 1 just broke, so that's going. I think the interior refresh is the bit i'm most excited about doing, but first things first!
Thanks guys. I think there are some beautiful 996 coming up soon. I remember how grotty 964 were about 10 years ago. Now many of them are totally sorted and have appreciated in value along with that.

I'd love to see your mods off my list. Can you post some pics on here?
no thought of that...
i'm guessing powder coating is cheap and the powder is thin enough to have little weight impact?
the lightweight ones are almost the same price. apart from the colour difference, why would anyone go for the steel ones?
Yes, powder coating is normally inexpensive and it adds very little weight. You'll normally find at least one company in any town who can do it and satin black is a commonly used colour in industry so I'm sure they'll be able to get your parts in a batch of others to keep cost down.
That's a really nice colour BTW, looks great in the sun.
