Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello! I'm trying to replace the battery on my 996 -98, and for some reason the bolt holding the small bracket is spinning freely, making it impossible to remove the battery. Does anyone know how to reach the nut for it? Would it be possible to get at it from behind the spare wheel, or from underneath the car? Thanks for any help! /C

POST 2Original post

That's odd. As far as I remember, it's just a threaded hole which a bolt goes through, there is no nut. If it's spinning freely, then the thread could be knackered. Have you tried putting some pressure on it, ie lifting the bracket upwards, whilst trying to undo it?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the tip! Then I know that it isn't a nut. I will try to put some pressure on it and see if it comes loose. Thanks! /C
