I was also comparing Boxster rails but they seems to be the other end of the engine so I suspect the supply line from the tank will also be in the wrong direction.
Leading evidence: 'supply line' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'supply line' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check pictures of the rails confirms two pipes' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

All the brake pipes from the rear are now replace with Kunifer , I think that is what is called.

The distance for the injectors to inlet are the same and I was going to fit it to my 996 when I fitted the 997 injectors but I ended up just using the 996 fuel rails with the 997 injectors in the end.

I would be tempted to fit a cheap or used fuel pump to the system, 4 bar minimum, and just connect to a battery if you can't get the engine close again to fit the fuel lines?

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi I have bought a 1998 Carrera c2 3.4 and it needs quite a lot of work. I am currently changing the brake pipes, Re painting the calipers and re skimming the discs. But I had a fuel leak coming from the O/S rear of the fuel rail, I now have the engine out and I cant see where it has been coming from, anyone have any ideas how i can pressurise the system while the engine is out of the car so I can find this leak, It might be a common problem, I would like to investigate and find the leak it before I disturb anything, like taking the rail off.
Paul
The system should pressurise as soon as the ignition is turned on.
My 99 c2 gives a quick buzz from the fuel pump if it has been stood a while but you may not hear it unless you have the drivers door open.
Yes I understand that but the engine is out of the car now, I wonder if I can get the engine close enough to plug the engine loom back in while the engine is out
of the car and then turn the ignition on.
Paul
Often the fuel rails corrode and weep fuel but when there's no pressure in the system you won't see it. I would be tempted to fit a cheap or used fuel pump to the system, 4 bar minimum, and just connect to a battery if you can't get the engine close again to fit the fuel lines?
Hi I have found the fuel leak  I connected my air line to the feed and blocked off the return, Regulated the pressure to 50 PSI and then covered the rail in fairy liquid, and sure enough bubbles came out off the end of the rail, a perforated fuel rail drivers side. there is a few on ebay . but I am going to need the correct part number if any one can help, and what cars where fitted with the same rail, and if any one knows where I can get one please.
All the brake pipes from the rear are now replace with Kunifer , I think that is what is called. new braided hoses , and repainted calipers. it is starting to look nice.
Paul
Unfortunately they are £700+ for the 3.4 cars, I would look for a good used one, I think the rubber pipes are bonded onto the fuel rails so you will need a complete set.
There are several part numbers but this might be correct for your car 99611093151 but definitely check in advance.
These are widely available on Ebay for pretty cheap, especially with the lower intake casting. Shouldn't be too hard to find a decent non-rusty one. Might be worth looking at 986 parts as they're likely to be less rusty as they aren't so far back in the car!
Hi I have spent quite a few hours looking for this fuel supply rail, Yes new ones are very expensive, But I cant seem to find one anywhere. EBay has one N/S and I need the offside. any one know of good breakers that specialise in these cars.
Paul
I have emailed most of the breakers searched eBay ect. emailed Holland
Germany , US , ect. And nothing available. Design 911 came back with aa new one at £1200 plus Vat, That is crazy.
I think I will take it off and try to repair it, I have nothing to lose at that price.
Paul
I have a pair of good 997 fuel rails but the rubber hose is cut after the 3 way connector at the back of the engine but they are in good condition if you can make them work, I was going to list them on ebay in the next few days. The distance for the injectors to inlet are the same and I was going to fit it to my 996 when I fitted the 997 injectors but I ended up just using the 996 fuel rails with the 997 injectors in the end. I think the mounting bolt holes are in the same place too?
Hi Thanks for the offer, I know nothing about these cars, so can you tell me the difference between the 997 rails and the 996 rails. some pictures wold be good. I could pm i think my phone number or email address, And how much do you want for them?. Also how do you re fix the hose as it is bonded on?.
Paul
I was thinking about this and remembered the 3.4 has a fuel return line so the 3.6 996 and 997 won't be suitable as they both don't have a return lines and this is probably why the 3.4 rails are so expensive. Checking pictures of the rails confirms two pipes on the end of each rail.
I was also comparing Boxster rails but they seems to be the other end of the engine so I suspect the supply line from the tank will also be in the wrong direction.
The fittings seem to be barbed type so are not replaceable by the looks of it.
