In other words, 911R owners got screwed
WORLD EXCLUSIVE: 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 testing with manual ‘box | Total 911
Most 911R owners are also 918 owners and most of them will get a 991.2 GT3 too
Still, the 991.2 GT3 4.0 proved my point that the R is a bad joke from Porsche to milk its fans.
I'd like a chance to buy this car. Is it the kind of thing where all of them will be pre-sold before they hit the lots?
I'll believe it when PAG confirm it. That said, I think it's very highly likely there will be an MT option since it was developed for the 911R. Back when the 991 GT3 was announced and the criticism of PDK only began, Porsche said it was too costly to develop both and that's no longer the case. I would say it's likely there will be a 4.0 NA. Given the issues with the 3.8, I don't think they will have a 9k RPM redline again. So to have a small hp bump which they normally do for successive iterations, and reduce the redline for reliability seems 4.0 will be needed to do this. All just imo
dead of night- if like in the past for regular GT3 models it's a regular production run not a "numbered" limited edition. They will not be easy to get but not impossible. Likely several thousand but no one knows for sure - except PAG. Contact a few dealers and ask to make a deposit.
Why would someone want a GT3 with manual transmission when you can already get a GT4 with a manual transmission? Do people just like paying extra for back seats? :hilarious:
And in fact no back seats- just carpeted shelf!
...or actually prefer the handling dynamics of the rear engine platform.
Looks like the 997 GT3 isn't the last of the manuals, maybe it'll drop back to 70's again.
I just love the 'insert-model owners got screwed' meme. Who's next? Maybe 918 owners got screwed? When the fefi comes out?

The 911R wasn't meant as a track car though, was it? Isn't it more of a manual road-going version of the GT3 RS? Not the GT3?
I thought it was sort of like the Boxster Spyder to the GT4. They're not really meant for the same purpose.
Any of you 911R owners out there who want to dump them in order to pick up this new GT3, please PM me. Please keep in mind that the 911R value is already dropping like a rock at the mere announcement of the new GT3 so you better act quickly. Just remember, I'm here to help.
It's a MT Carrera with suspenders
It should be obvious with more rubber on the pavement but on the C&D skid pad, GT4 with 1.04 Gs and the Turbo S with 1.09. The acceleration is over 1.3 Gs!
