Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, On C4S 2003 Tiptro. Like you can hear in attachement, on road I have this kind of whistling. The noise fluctuates when the gears change or when I accelerate. I tried without air conditionner, and the head unit off. The same

POST 2Original post

I don't hear anything concerning. I have a 99 C2 with the Tiptronic. It does not make the same sound as your but it does have some gear whine. I think mine is a different make though, ZF vs Mercedes?

POST 3Original post

I would suggest to change the diff oil and see if you have any debris on the magnetic plug. The tiptronic gearbox has a lot of bearings that are easy to replace, I have posted a lot of photos in another thread. Changing the diff oil is something you should do in any car that is 25 years old... If the sound doesn't change then you should look elsewhere. Some more questions: 1. If in neutral and revving, do you get the same sound? 2. If coming down a cliff, put the gearbox in neutral and tell us if the sound is there while rolling.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
