Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So my cable snapped and was just in the local OPC this morning so asked about a new one and they are NLA, as are 986 ones as well. This is the full manual version, not the later ones. Thats a bit annoying as Ive rigged the cable to get access but dont want to be lying under the car everytime I need it open. Anyone found an alternative or used the LHD version as apparently they are available? They must be slightly different lengths. If no joy then I might just have to try one of them.

POST 2Original post

I would give a breakers a call and scavenge one from a 986 as you suggest

POST 3Original post

Just make a new cable. Plenty of kits available not for crimping stuff on to cables, etc.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's what I did, they only had one. LHD is available so might be an option going forward or DIY as you say, might outer sheath ( ) had also been damaged so needed the whole thing.
