When I picked up my car in Stuttgart, I checked every option to make sure that they were all there.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi, do you think it is a good idea when buying a new car to make sure with the salesman that every option listed for the car is actually on the car, to make sure it is accurately priced, and to make sure it works? Which is better to do this with, the build sheet or the window sticker? Do you then go to the Porsche configurator with the salesman to make sure the options are accurately priced? It is difficult for me to understand every option, for example, you get a premium package with a certain set of seats, then a separate option is priced and listed for seats again. I want to be careful and sure because one dealer stated on the website, "it is the sole responsibility of the buyer to make sure of the existence, condition, and accuracy of all accessories." How do you approach this when buying a new Porsche? It is advisable to take some time with the car and salesman to go over every option, correct?

POST 2Original post

How do you verify that PTV is installed and working? I have no idea. What about dynamic transmission mounts?

POST 3Original post

Yes, to me this is normal due diligence. I bring the Build Sheet- Retail that the dealer provided when we locked the spec and I compare it to the Monroney sticker (not necessary to go back to the configurator). A good sales person will take the time to go over the car and the options and assist with things like setting up the homelink, radio presets, PCM, Bluetooth connection, location of items in the frunk, etc. etc. The reps I've dealt with have been willing to spend as much time as it takes for the process.

POST 4Original post

You get one wheel on ice, the other on dry pavement and see if the LSD kicks in. OP you have started MULTIPLE threads on 911 forum, Boxster Forum, Cayman, ranging from a TTS, Boxster, Cayman, 718, GT4, and now back to the 911? You've hit every car and this seems very suspicious. I'm given you the benefit of the doubt here. Exactly what car are you discussing here? Are you talking about buying a 991.2 and worrying that the options on the Monroney won't be on the car? If that was done willfully it would appear to be a violation of 15 USC 1232. If its accident, it would be done at the factory, not by a dealer. I would not worry about the Monroney. I would be more worried about the definition of "accessories" Do they mean dealer installed accessories? Ask them.

The Monroney is issued by Porsche NA. In the case of my PTS Boxster it was wrong in that it did not include interior leather options and the Dealer would not give it to me but a new one was issued by Porsche NA. I did take a pic of the original incorrect Monroney for posterity. So do your diligence and use all available information to ascertain what you are buying. For my 991.2, a LARGE mistake in the final sales sheet balance was made in my favor, I informed the Dealership. I jokingly asked for a 'Finders Fee' but no go! -Richard

POST 6Original post

OK, PCNA/PAG a subsidiary, all the same thing. And an accident is not willfully so not a crime.

POST 7Original post

I don't think you have to check for PTV. If it is lacking and it was in the order and was paid for they have to fix it or take the car back. I think it would be unwise to do a test drive before accepting the car that is hard enough to feel it.

POST 8Original post

I thought you had ordered a Cayman for September delivery? My advice is to first figure out what car you want. The Porsche configurator will help you decide on options within your budget. Mistakes may happen at the ordering end or at the factory but I haven't read that this is a common occurrence. My car was delivered in perfect condition.

POST 9Original post

I did have an Agate Grey 981 Cayman S lined up, from the last batch of 981s scheduled for delivery. However, after reading about the manual transmission on the thread I started at "981 chat," I've decided this transmission is not for me. I now want a PDK. This is a personal decision. Without these forums, I would not have the information I have acquired, and am grateful about sidestepping some problems I might have encountered entering the buying process blindly. Again, my decision for Porsche is because of the beauty, power/weight ratio, reliability, and agility of these sports cars.

POST 10Original post

When I picked up my car in Stuttgart, I checked every option to make sure that they were all there. My colored wheel crests were missing. I took a picture and emailed my SA right away. It was on the monroney when I got it back to the states so they had to replace the silver colored ones. I didn't want to deal with Stuttgart to fix the problem at the delivery center.....I wanted to get on the road and deal with it later. I would check for sure.

POST 11Original post

IMO, it's rare for a car not to have the options shown on the window sticker. Many of these missing options would indicate major flaws in factory QA. It's hard to believe that is the case. Infor most options, is pretty easy to notice whether they are on the car. I've had a lot of cars as well as 9 Porsches and have never seen this.

POST 12Original post

Right now, I am trying to figure out why I am paying for the 14 way power seats twice on the retail build sheet I am looking at for a particular car. I pay about $2,300 for the 14 way seats themselves, and another $3,900 for the 14 way seats in the Premium Plus Package. Shouldn't I pay for the 14 way seats in the Premium Plus Package, and not be charged separately again for them in another option listing? The only thing that I can figure out is the 14 way power seat package is required to get the Premium Plus package, is that correct?

POST 13Original post

If you click on the i (info) buttons next to each package it explains what items that are included. Premium package with the 14 seats gives you heated seats, auto dimming mirros and memory. The plus adds LED headlights, keyless entry, seat ventilation, light design package etc. So it is bundling these items and adding to the premium package/14 way seats. You can also buy these individually i.e. ventilated seats, light design package etc.
