Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I don't believe this is the final, actual car. There are a lot of photoshops going around based on the test mule sightings. This front is still a little too 997 based on what has been discussed elsewhere. The debut at Frankfurt Sept 2011 has been confirmed and it is consistent w/ 911 debuts since 1963.
I would agree with DaveC... having released a few 997.2 variants a few months ago (GTS), along with the Turbos and GT3s last year, I don't think Porsche is going to break tradition and come out with the redesign any sooner.
Frankfurt debut, and perhaps in US dealers Spring-Summer 2012.
French website L’Automobile brings us some new renderings of the upcoming 991 Porsche 911. The front view is pretty much the same as we saw last August. This time, though, you get a look at the backside of the new 991.
Most other details for the next-gen 911 remain as reported last year. So, we can expect the wheelbase to be increased by 75mm or so, allowing for improved engine mounting and rear seat room. A weight loss of some 50kg is anticipated, along with a better aero package and the use of efficient technologies such as stop-start and brake regeneration. The interior layout will draw heavily from the Panamera, as well.
The latest speculation suggests the 991 will debut later this year at the Frankfurt IAA in September.

Everyone will love this car and just have to have it, if only for it's performance. But for me, the 997 will always be the best looking modern version of the 911.
Let's wait and see my friend... let's wait and see. So far the rendered external looks look fine but not all that, the interior is SUPERB... but again, let's wait. What if upon the release of this 991 with its looks and performance it converted all P-9 Cayman fanatics to 911 owners?
Like everything else there will be pluses and minuses depending on your own POV. The 911 at heart was a rather minimalist design around the rear engine configuration that Ferdinand and Ferry began w/ in the 356. The enormous success of the 911 has made it synonymous w/ the name Porsche for millions around the world, even non automotive enthusiasts. As a 997 owner I appreciate all the fine qualities it has to offer, but in a very real sense the 911 ended with the 993 and as time has progressed Porsche has taken the 911 concept further and further away from the original. Although the performance has improved, even into what used to be F1 categories for the Turbo S, the light, agile, and visceral qualities of the air cooled car is gone and is not coming back. After seeing what Porsche did w/ the 918 race car I no longer believe the 911 will be the flagship for Porsche beyond the next 3-5 years; but it won't be the Cayman/Boxster either. The 991 is likely the 911's swan song.
I agree with everything you say here except the last line - the 911 IS Porsche, and although they have the technology and the engineering skills to make a better sports car at a decent price point (the 987 platform comes to mind), they continue to hone the 911. Yes, it is different than its roots, but that is to be expected in an era with new technology and environmental concerns. I believe their long struggle to make the 911 what it is means that when the Carrera does its swan song, so too will the Porsche company. I'm afraid they are inexorably linked.
