Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys! I have recently installed a double Din Head unit into my 996, and it took some doing due to cutting and I had to re-posistion the heater controls. Can anyone help as the head unit is in and secure but there is a gap at the top of approx 1cm, i need either a blanking plate or is it possible to fit the cup holder from the 996 c 4s as this sits just under the middle vent? Also due to me moving the heater controls down to the bottom of the console, it fits great but I am left with a gap around the outside edges of the heater controls! Can anyone please tell me if there is a part to cover this and the gap at the top of head unit? Prices and where from etc?? Many thanks mache! :thumb:

POST 2Original post

No, there isn''t a trim to fit this gap, and the cupholders won't fit. I used the old a/c surround. I cut the top and bottom parts off, glued them together, and stuck the trim in the gap with double-sided tape pads. There is a special trim to fit the aircon panel when it goes in the bottom slot. It's the one used when cars have PCM. £3.36 from your OPC, part number 996.552.339.00.01C.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey thanks Rich Ive just order the trim pannel from Porsche for the Air con unit. Do you know anywhere I can get something similar for the top? Even if its another bit of trim I can cut down like you did? Many thanks Mache :thumb:

POST 4Original post

Like I said, I cut up the old a/c trim which was in the top slot. I don't know what double-DIN unit you have, but there's a guy on Renntech who makes a fascia and fitting kit for Pioneer units: http://cgi.ebay.com/97-04-Porsche-996-Boxster-986-Double-Din-Kit-AVIC-NEW_W0QQitemZ220310396568
