Find something else to worry about.
What are the signs of a cracked head?
1. people getting naked outside during a full moon and running around howling.
2. people that burn other people's cars they once thought would save the environment.
3. people that love to comment out of ignorance on social media.
4. people that love to tell experts how to repair their cars.
5. people that can not handle being told what to do for their own safety. Like those that refuse to wear helmets when being shot out of a cannon.
6. people that run from police when they've committed a minor traffic offense.
7. people that try to run across 6 lanes of expressway traffic on foot wearing bootie shorts and flip flops to pick up their kid's iPhones they dropped out of the window.
8. people that buy Porsches and surprised at the costs of dealer service and OE parts.
9. people that sit in hot cars three hours before school lets out in order to be the FIRST to pick up their kids.
10. people that try to rebadge and decal their base Porsches to say "GT3".
11. people that love oil debates and fight to the death over Mobil 1 because of the little sticker on the deck lid.
12. people that burn down their houses because they were attempting to warm fuel on the stove in the winter because they had to get to work. (yes, this has happened)
13. people that keep trying to restart their engines after a loud boom and catastrophic failure.
14. people over the age of 70 that wear jean shorts and knee socks with their t-shirt tucked in and show up at car shows usually driving old Corvettes and call our cars Volkswagens.
15. People that don't drive their Porsche cars because they 'want to keep the miles down'.
I could go on and on. hahaha
Many of the guys will respond with what to look for and test, as well as commentary.
Regardless os they are cracked or not, its good to understand what causes cracked heads. Its typically caused by a failed water pump. Bearings go and then the plastic fins wobble and break off and flow through the coolant and lodge in the head area. The head then causes cracking. The best way to prevent it is to replace your water pump every 5-7 years with a new OEM water pump. Easy.
Good writeup by Hamheads on these failures and how they repaire them.
